It was Rootikal Sundays at the East Village Club in London …Rootikal sounds good, sounds Jamaican so let me check it out after being impressed and converted at the University of Dub i defintely had to go. David Rodigan would be there and Trojan Sound System, familar names but still i had no expectations…I don’t know them really but they are Djs so i guess it should be good. Once again i was in for a suprise the East Village was awesome. I got there earlier so i could take in all they was to offer ..how do you describe teh sound of good music in a good nice cozy lounge with good food and collectors items reggae music…the kind you always want to hear the classic …Studio one, King Tubys, Lee Scratch? ..people lounging around i thought what a nice sunday evening….but there was more that wasn’t the party, the crowd was led downstairs to the basement and it was there that i was introduced to David Rodigan. He played hit after hit reggae music…he had the crowd going wild i was on the floor going wilder…he had the crwod listening to every word he was saying he told stories about the songs, stories about life in Jamaica…life in the Ghetto…he had dubplates like crazy….but Who is David Rodigan?… one obvious thing is that he was English…or seemed so never seemed Jamaican How did he know all this stuff and from where… i mean he talked about Reggae music as if he had made some himself….like he was right up there with the greats…. he told stories of Scientist making dub music in King Tubbys studio…and he even sounded Jamaican….seriously who is David Rodigan? For the first time in expereincing music i am interested more in getting information about the Dj than the music he was playing….So i am on a search to find out Who is David Rodigan.
