Earl Chinna Smith-Legendary musician

Last night i was pleasantly suprised to arrive at an album launch party. It was “Guitars on Top” launched at the residence of the famous Earl Chinna Smith. What i caught of teh event was just fabulous. Artist, Musicians producers, Djs paying tribute to the greats. There were live performances by the Heptones, Big Youth, Della Manley, Fredlocks among others, Sly Dunbar on drums, Mutaburuka as host and Earl Chinna Smith on bass.

Creativity, creating sounds

Last week Friday at Bookophilia wa great!!!  i thoroughly enjoyed it . I enjoyed seeing the potential and possibilities of having a dj with sa drummer following the rythm of the music. The drummer Omaro was excellent. He had several drums for variety. I thought the crowd that was there loved it because it was different and You could get to feel the vibe of the drums.

I certianly look forward to more events like this…..experiments in Sound watch out for the series.

Playing at Bookophilia again was like a nice glass of orange juice. Its good to have a cultural and creative space.

World Beat night at Bookophilia is hosted by Dj Afifa and Sawandi. Bookophilia is located at 92 Hope Road, Kingston.

The edge of Jamaican culture

 

I came across this website Yardegde recently seems like i was very late as well. I think it is an excellent site exploring Jamaican art culture and music, especially the less familar side. I recommend this site.
